The National Bank of Denmark issued the 100 kroner banknote (Pick 46) in 1965 as part of the "Portrait and Landscape" series, which was introduced between 1952 and 1964. This series featured prominent Danish figures and landmarks to showcase the nation's cultural heritage.
The obverse of the 1965 100 kroner note displays a portrait of physicist and chemist Hans Christian Ørsted, who discovered that electric currents create magnetic fields.
