About this banknote
The National Bank of Belgium issued the 100 franc banknote (Pick 95) between 1921 and 1927. This series was introduced on August 8, 1921, during the reign of King Albert I, to facilitate higher denomination transactions in the post-World War I economy.
The obverse features conjoined portraits of King Albert I and Queen Elisabeth on the left, with a Belgian lion resting among produce and instruments. The reverse depicts a gunsmith at work in his workshop, accompanied by a cameo portrait of a female figure and various tools. The banknote measures 184 x 108 mm and was printed by the National Bank of Belgium.
