About this banknote
The National Bank of Poland (Narodowy Bank Polski) prepared a series of 10 złotych banknotes dated March 1, 1990. These notes were intended to introduce a new design for the currency. However, they were withdrawn before circulation due to insufficient security features. In 1996, the banknotes were overprinted with the word "NIEOBIEGOWY" (non-circulating) in red and released to collectors.
The obverse of the banknote features the Royal Castle in Warsaw on the right and the national coat of arms on the left. The reverse depicts the Mermaid Statue (Syrenka) on the bank of the Vistula River. The watermark consists of the national coat of arms.
