The National Bank of Egypt issued the 10-pound banknote (Pick 23) between 1931 and 1951. This series was introduced to standardize the nation's currency during a period of economic development. The notes were printed by Bradbury Wilkinson & Co., New Malden.
The front of the banknote features the Mosque of Sultan Qala'un and a street scene in Cairo. The reverse depicts a farm scene with palm trees. The note measures 188 x 102 mm and includes a watermark of the Sphinx. The 1937 issue bears the signature of Edward Cook.
