About this banknote
The Danmarks Nationalbank issued the 10 kroner banknote (Pick 44) in 1964 as part of its 1950–1974 series. This series featured portraits of notable Danes on the obverse and landscapes on the reverse, a design collaboration between architect Gunnar Biilmann Petersen, illustrator Gunnar Andersen, and architect Ib Andersen.
The obverse displays a portrait of author Hans Christian Andersen, based on an 1863 photograph by Budtz Müller & Co., with white storks nesting in a tree at Asminderød, northern Zealand. The reverse features Egeskov Windmill on the island of Fyn. The banknote measures 125 x 71 mm and includes a repeated "10" watermark.
