About this banknote
**About this banknote:**
The banknote was issued by Fanning Island Plantations, Ltd. around 1942. Introduced during World War II, this series served the purpose of facilitating economic transactions on the remotely located Fanning Island, a part of the British Colony of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands, present-day Kiribati.
The note's design prominently features the inscription "FANNING ISLAND PLANTATIONS LTD." along with "ONE POUND AUSTRALIAN CURRENCY" in green and cream colors. It is redeemable only at the company office on Fanning Island. The note bears the signature of the manager, R.G. Garrett, and includes a serial number in red.
