The Banco Central de Cuba issued the 1 peso banknote (Pick 128) in 2011 as part of a series that began in 2006. This series continued the design elements introduced in earlier commemorative issues from 2003 and 2004.
The obverse features a portrait of José Martí on the right side, with inscriptions including "BANCO CENTRAL DE CUBA," "1 PESO," "ANO 2011," and "JOSE MARTI." The reverse depicts Fidel Castro and his men entering Havana on January 8, 1959, accompanied by the inscriptions "1 PESO," "REPUBLICA DE CUBA," and "ENTRADA A LA HABANA 8 DE ENERO DE 1959."
