The Banco Nacional de Cuba issued this 1 peso banknote in 1995 to commemorate the 45th anniversary of central banking in Cuba (1950–1995) and the centenary of José Martí's death (1895–1995).
The obverse features a portrait of José Martí on the left, with the Cuban coat of arms and commemorative text at the center right. The reverse depicts horseback riders at the center, with commemorative text and dates at the left. This note was produced exclusively as a specimen, with approximately 1,300 copies printed, all bearing the serial number "000000" and individually numbered in the upper right corner.
