About this banknote
The National Bank of Cuba issued the 1 peso banknote (Pick 90) in 1960. This series was introduced following the Cuban Revolution, during which the National Bank of Cuba was restructured under the leadership of Felipe Pazos Roque, who served as its president from 1959 to 1960.
The obverse of the banknote features a portrait of José Martí in an oval frame on the right side, with the phrase "Con todos y para el bien de todos" at the center. The reverse displays the Cuban coat of arms at the center, flanked by scenes of sugar cane harvesting on the left and industrial processing on the right. This note was printed by Thomas De La Rue & Company (TDLR) and was demonetized on August 4, 1961.
