About this banknote
The Banco Nacional de Cuba issued the 1 peso banknote (Pick 90) in 1959. This series was introduced following the Cuban Revolution, during which Felipe Pazos Roque served as the bank's president and Rufo López Fresquet as the Minister of Finance.
The obverse features José Martí addressing an assembly at the center, with his portrait to the right. The reverse displays a farm scene on the left, the Cuban coat of arms at the center, and a factory on the right. Printed by Thomas De La Rue & Company, the note measures 132 x 57 mm and was demonetized on August 4, 1961.
