The Banco Nacional de Cuba issued the 1 peso banknote (Pick 87b) in 1957. This series was part of the regular currency issues during the late 1950s, featuring the signatures of Joaquín Martínez Sáenz as President of the National Bank of Cuba and Justo García Rainery as Minister of Finance.
The obverse of the note displays a portrait of José Martí on the right and the Civic Square (Plaza Cívica) at the center.
