About this banknote
The Treasury General of the Republic of Cuba issued the 1 peso silver certificate in 1934. This series was introduced under the administration of President Carlos Mendieta, with Manuel Despaigne serving as Secretary of the Treasury. The notes were printed by the United States Bureau of Engraving and Printing.
The front of the banknote features a portrait of José Martí at the center, encircled by an olive wreath. The country's name, "República de Cuba," is displayed at the top, with the denomination "1 Peso" in both numerals and letters positioned in the corners and adjacent to the portrait. A red seal of the General Treasury is located to the left of the portrait. The reverse side showcases the Cuban coat of arms at the center. This note measures 156 x 67 mm and was demonetized on March 6, 1953.
