About this banknote
The Bank of Spain issued the 1 peseta banknote dated September 4, 1940, during Francisco Franco's rule. This note was officially put into circulation on April 18, 1941.
The obverse features the sailing ship Santa María in an oval central medallion, with the Spanish coat of arms to the right. The reverse displays a central rosette with the face value in figures and letters. Printed by Rieusset S.A. in Barcelona, the note measures 100 × 50 mm and was demonetized on January 1, 2021.
