About this banknote

The Central Bank of Bolivia (Banco Central de Bolivia) issued this 1 boliviano banknote in 1928, following the enactment of Law 632 on July 20, 1928, which established the bank. The bank officially commenced operations on July 1, 1929.

The obverse of the note features a brown-toned portrait of Simón Bolívar at the center, with the inscription "LA PAZ, LEY DE 20 DE JULIO DE 1928. EL BANCO CENTRAL DE BOLIVIA PAGARÁ AL PORTADOR A LA VISTA UN BOLIVIANO EN ORO O GIROS-ORO." The reverse displays the Bolivian national emblem in deep blue tones, with the denomination on either side. The note measures 115 x 60 mm and was printed by Waterlow & Sons Ltd., London.
