About this banknote
The Bank of Guatemala issued the 50 centavos de quetzal banknote (Pick 19a) on August 12, 1946. This provisional series was created by overprinting "Banco de Guatemala" on existing notes from the Banco Central de Guatemala, following the establishment of the Bank of Guatemala in 1945.
The obverse features a banana and coffee plantation scene, with the issuer's name at the top and the denomination in all four corners. The reverse depicts Lake Atitlán with a volcano in the background. The note measures 151 x 65 mm and was printed by Waterlow & Sons Limited, London.
