The Bank Polski issued the 500 zlotych banknote, dated February 28, 1919, as part of the 1919 (1924) Dated Issue series. Printed by Waterlow & Sons Limited in the United Kingdom, this series was introduced to establish a stable national currency following Poland's regaining of independence in 1918.
The obverse of the banknote features a portrait of Tadeusz Kościuszko on the left side. The note measures 180 x 110 mm and is printed in purple and green hues.
