Об этой банкноте
The Banque de France issued the 500 francs banknote featuring Marie and Pierre Curie on June 1, 1994, with circulation commencing on March 22, 1995. This note was part of the third series honoring 20th-century creators and scientists, designed by Franco-Swiss graphic artist Roger Pfund. It succeeded the 500 francs Pascal note and was the last 500 francs denomination before the euro's introduction.
The front of the banknote displays portraits of Marie and Pierre Curie, inspired by period photographs. The reverse features laboratory equipment and the atom symbol, reflecting their scientific contributions. The note measures 153 x 80 mm and includes a watermark of Marie Curie's portrait. It was printed from 1994 to 2000 and ceased to be legal tender on February 17, 2012.
