Об этой банкноте
The 5 piastres banknote was issued by the Banque de Syrie in 1919. This series was introduced following the establishment of French mandate control over Syria and Lebanon after World War I, subsequently formalized at the San Remo conference in April 1920. The banknotes were printed to facilitate local economic activity in the newly defined territories.
The front side of the banknote features intricate designs with inscriptions in French and Arabic, alongside a depiction of ancient ruins. The back side includes a central motif of a lion's head surrounded by floral patterns. This note, catalogued as Pick 1, was printed by Bradbury Wilkinson and Company, a renowned printing firm based in London.
