The Banque de France issued the 300 francs banknote in 1938, designed by Clément Serveau and engraved by Ernest Deloche. Initially intended as a 10 francs note to replace the 10 francs Minerve 1915, the denomination was increased to 300 francs due to the imminent threat of war. Although printed in 1938, the note was not released into circulation until June 4, 1945.

The front of the note features a portrait of Ceres on the left, while the back displays a profile of Mercury on the right. The note measures 138 x 88 mm and includes a watermark depicting Mercury in profile. It was signed by Pierre Rousseau, Caissier Général, and René Favre-Gilly, Secrétaire Général. The note was demonetized on November 20, 1950.
