The Banque de France issued the 1000 francs "Minerva and Hercules" banknote series between 1945 and 1950. This series was introduced on April 12, 1945, during the Provisional Government of the French Republic, to replace earlier notes and stabilize the post-war economy.

The obverse features the busts of Minerva and Hercules, accompanied by a cornucopia and a winged horse, surrounded by floral and avian motifs. The reverse displays a veiled woman at the center, with plant motifs. The note measures 172 x 95 mm and was demonetized on April 1, 1968.
