The Bank Emisyjny w Polsce (Emission Bank of Poland) issued the 100 zlotych banknote on March 1, 1940, during the German occupation of Poland in World War II. This note was part of a series introduced to replace the pre-war Polish currency under the General Government administration.
The obverse features a portrait of a patrician from old Warsaw on the left side. The reverse depicts the Polish Bank building in Warsaw, constructed in 1928. The banknote measures 190 x 106 mm and is printed in brown on a light green and orange underprint. It was produced by the Austrian State Printing House (Wiener Staatsdruckerei) in Vienna.
