The Banque de France issued the 100 francs "Delacroix" banknote from 1978 to 1995. This series was introduced on August 2, 1979, replacing the previous 100 francs note.

The front of the banknote features a portrait of Eugène Delacroix at the left center, with a depiction of Marianne holding the tricolor flag, a detail from Delacroix's painting "La Liberté guidant le peuple," at the right. The reverse shows Delacroix holding a quill pen. This note measures 160 x 85 mm and was demonetized on February 17, 2012.
