The Banque de France issued the 100 francs "Luc Olivier Merson" banknote from 1908 to 1939, replacing the previous 100 francs "bleu et rose" series. This note was introduced on January 1, 1908, and remained in circulation until it was succeeded by the 100 francs "Sully" series.

The obverse features allegorical figures representing Agriculture and Commerce, accompanied by two children, with Minerva depicted at the upper left. The reverse displays allegories of Work, represented by a blacksmith, and Fortune, depicted as a woman with a child holding a cornucopia. This multicolored note measures 182 x 112 mm and was signed by J. Boyer and R. Favre-Gilly between September 9, 1937, and December 2, 1937.
