The Banque de France issued the 10 francs banknote (Pick 99) between 1941 and 1949, with the first date of issue on September 11, 1941. This series was introduced during World War II to address the need for smaller denominations in daily transactions.
The obverse features a coal miner holding a pickaxe, with a mining landscape in the background. The reverse depicts a peasant woman with a child, accompanied by cows and a village scene. The watermark presents a helmeted effigy of Joan of Arc, inspired by a 15th-century bust. The note measures 118 x 75 mm and was engraved by Camille Beltrand (obverse) and Ernest-Pierre Deloche (reverse).
