The banknote is a 50 zlotych issued in Poland in 2006. It is cataloged under Pick number 178. Its front side design features a 2006 Commemorative Issue theme, showcasing Pope John Paul II at the right center, hand raised in blessing, against a world map background. To the left, Pope John Paul II is depicted seated, kissing the hand of kneeling Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski on the right. The National Bank of Poland issued this commemorative series on October 16, 2006, to honor Pope John Paul II. This series was introduced to mark significant moments related to the Pope, coinciding with the anniversary of his election to the papacy on this date in 1978.

The front of the 50 zlotych note features Pope John Paul II at the center, blessing, with a background world map. To the left, he is depicted seated, kissing the hand of Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski. The reverse includes a text from his letter to Poles and an image of Jasna Góra Monastery. Printed by Polska Wytwórnia Papierów Wartościowych S.A., 2,000,000 pieces were produced.
