Об этой банкноте
The National Bank of Romania issued the 50 lei banknote on July 1, 2005, as part of the currency revaluation that redenominated the leu at a rate of 10,000 old lei to 1 new leu. This revaluation aimed to simplify transactions and align the currency with European standards.
The obverse features a portrait of Aurel Vlaicu (1882–1913), a pioneer in Romanian aviation, alongside an edelweiss flower (Leontopodium alpinum), a stylized airplane propeller, and the coat of arms of Romania. The reverse displays the head of a mountain eagle (Aquila chrysaetos), a sketch of the Vlaicu II airplane, and a section of an aircraft engine. This polymer banknote measures 140 x 77 mm and includes security features such as a watermark, security thread, transparent window, microprinting, blacklight printing, micro perforations, latent writing, and the EURion constellation.
