The Allied Military Command issued this 50-franc banknote in 1944 during the initial stages of France's liberation in World War II. Printed by the Forbes Lithograph Manufacturing Company in Boston, these notes were introduced on June 6, 1944, to provide a stable currency in liberated areas.
The obverse features intricate guilloche patterns with the inscriptions "CINQUANTE FRANCS," "SERIE DE 1944," and "EMIS EN FRANCE." The reverse displays the French tricolor flag accompanied by the national motto "LIBERTÉ ÉGALITÉ FRATERNITÉ." Measuring 156 x 66 mm, this note was demonetized on June 15, 1945.
