Об этой банкноте
The Assignation Bank of the Russian Empire issued the 5 ruble assignation banknote in 1802 as part of the series introduced in 1786. This series was initiated to replace earlier notes, many of which had been counterfeited, and to stabilize the currency system. The 5 ruble notes were first released into circulation in March 1787.
The front of the 1802 5 ruble assignation features two embossed ovals. The left oval depicts a port with symbols of trade and military strength, including banners, cannons, and cannonballs, with a double-headed eagle above and the inscription "ПОКОИТЪ И ОБОРОНЯЕТЪ" ("Reposes and Defends"). The right oval shows a high cliff over the sea, symbolizing Russia's might, with the inscription "НЕВРЕДИМА" ("Unharmed"). Between the ovals, the denomination "5" is printed, followed by the text: "ОБЪЯВИТЕЛЮ СЕЙ ГОСУДАРСТВЕННОЙ АССИГНАЦIИ ПЛАТИТЪ АССИГНАЦIОННЫЙ БАНКЪ ПЯТЬ РУБЛЕЙ ХОДЯЧЕЮ МОНЕТОЮ 1802 ГОДА" ("To the bearer of this state assignation, the Assignation Bank pays five rubles in current coin of the year 1802"). The note measures 173 mm in width and 134 mm in height and is printed on dark blue embossed paper.
