The Danmarks Nationalbank issued the 5 kroner banknote (Pick 42) between 1952 and 1960. This series was introduced under the law dated 7 April 1936.

The obverse features a portrait of sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen, based on an 1814 painting by C.W. Eckersberg, alongside his marble sculpture "Graces and Amor" from 1817–18. The reverse depicts the town of Kalundborg with the Church of Our Lady at the center, as seen from the fjord, illustrated by architect Ib Andersen. The banknote measures 125 x 65 mm and was printed by Danmarks Nationalbank.
