Об этой банкноте

The Central Bank of Brazil issued this provisional 5 centavos banknote in 1966–1967 during the transition from the cruzeiro to the cruzeiro novo currency. To facilitate this change, existing 50 cruzeiros notes were overprinted with a black circular stamp reading "BANCO CENTRAL" and "5 CENTAVOS" to indicate their new value.

The front of the note features a portrait of Princess Isabel, the daughter of Emperor Dom Pedro II, with the original denomination of 50 cruzeiros. The overprint revalues the note to 5 centavos. The back displays an allegorical figure representing the "Lei Áurea" (Golden Law), which abolished slavery in Brazil. This overprinted series was demonetized on May 14, 1970.
