Об этой банкноте

The Bank of Albania introduced the 2000 Lekë banknote on December 29, 2008, as part of its efforts to modernize the national currency. This denomination was added to facilitate higher-value transactions and reduce the need for multiple lower-denomination notes.

The obverse features a portrait of King Gent, the last ruler of Illyria, along with two ancient coins minted during his reign. The reverse depicts the Butrint amphitheater near Sarandë and the Gentiana lutea plant, whose medicinal properties were discovered by King Gent. The banknote measures 160 x 72 mm and was printed by Thomas De La Rue & Co. Ltd.
