The Banque de France issued the 200 francs banknote featuring Montesquieu between 1981 and 1992. This series was introduced on July 7, 1982, and remained in circulation until its withdrawal on October 29, 1996.

The obverse of the banknote displays a portrait of Charles de Montesquieu on the right. The reverse features an image of Montesquieu at left and the Château de La Brède, his birthplace. The note measures 172 x 92 mm and was demonetized on March 31, 1998.
