The National Bank of Romania issued the 20 lei banknote (Pick 20) on November 3, 1921, as part of the 1909–1929 series. This series was introduced on February 26, 1909, during the reign of King Carol I, and continued through January 31, 1929.
The obverse features a girl with fruit on the left and a boy with an oar on the right, with the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Romania below. The reverse displays a flying eagle and a depiction of Emperor Trajan. The banknote measures 162 x 100 mm and was printed on paper.
