The National Bank of Romania issued the 20 lei banknote (Pick 20) between 1909 and 1929. The first issuance date was February 6, 1909, with subsequent issues on October 20, 1909, and November 12, 1909. The banknote was designed by Georges Duval and engraved by L. Ruffe.

The obverse features a girl with fruit on the left and a boy with an oar on the right, symbolizing agriculture and navigation, respectively. The reverse depicts a flying eagle and Emperor Trajan. The banknote measures 162 x 100 mm and has a blue-violet color scheme. It includes watermarks of Emperor Trajan, the god Mercury, and the number 20.
