The Sveriges Riksbank issued the 20 kronor banknote series from 1997 to 2008. In 2006, the banknote featured the signatures of Jan Bergqvist and Stefan Ingves. This series was introduced to honor Selma Lagerlöf, the first female Nobel laureate in literature.
The front of the banknote displays a portrait of Selma Lagerlöf at the right, with a horse-drawn carriage at the lower center. The reverse features a scene from her book "Nils Holgersson's Wonderful Journey through Sweden," depicting Nils and Mårten the Goose flying over the flatlands of Scania. This banknote was demonetized on June 30, 2016.
