The Sveriges Riksbank issued the 20 kronor banknote in 1997. On September 15, 1997, a new, smaller version measuring 120 x 67 mm was introduced to reduce the risk of confusion with the 100 kronor note, particularly for individuals with impaired vision.
The front of the note features a horse-drawn carriage at the lower center and a portrait of Selma Lagerlöf at the right. The back depicts a scene from Lagerlöf's story, showing a boy riding a snow goose in flight at the left center. The watermark is a portrait of Selma Lagerlöf.
