Об этой банкноте
The Allied Military Government for Occupied Territories issued this 2-franc banknote in 1944, during the liberation of France in World War II. Printed by the Forbes Lithograph Manufacturing Co. in Boston, the note was part of the Allied Military Currency introduced to replace the currency circulated under German occupation. General Charles de Gaulle and the Provisional Government of the French Republic did not approve these notes, considering them unauthorized.
The front of the banknote features a green design with black borders, including torches on the left and right sides in green underprint, and the text "ÉMIS EN FRANCE." The reverse displays the French flag within a central square, accompanied by the national motto "LIBERTÉ, ÉGALITÉ, FRATERNITÉ." Replacement notes are identified by an "X" near the serial number.
