The Banque de France issued the 100 francs "Delacroix" banknote (Pick 154) from 1978 to 1989. This series was introduced on August 2, 1979, replacing the previous 100 francs note.
The front of the banknote features a portrait of Eugène Delacroix holding a palette and brushes, alongside a detail from his painting "La Liberté guidant le peuple." The reverse depicts Delacroix holding a quill pen, with the Place Furstenberg in Paris in the background. The note measures 160 x 85 mm and was demonetized on February 1, 2009.
