The Banque de France issued the 100 francs banknote featuring Eugène Delacroix from 1978 to 1995. This series was introduced on August 2, 1979, to replace the previous 100 francs note.

The front of the banknote displays a portrait of Eugène Delacroix holding a palette and brushes, alongside a detail from his painting "La Liberté guidant le peuple." The reverse features Delacroix with a quill pen in hand, set against the backdrop of Place Furstenberg in Paris. The note measures 160 x 85 mm and was demonetized on February 1, 1999.
